MSG and Caffeine

So earlier I drank a coffee frap from starbucks and then was munching on my favorite chips and was really bored and read in the ingredients that theyre was msg. My baby's moved around after but I don't know weather or not I harmed my baby's or if the msg has been hurting them. Also, does caffeine further affect a shorten cervix. I just wanted to know if any of you mom's can give me any advice or comfort. Thank you so much!

  • It is fine in moderation. You can have up to 4 cups of coffee a day. And MSG is in lots of stuff.

  • Msg is in just about everything. It is a preservitive. I wouldn't worry too much. And caffine is fine in moderation. I drank about a pop a day every day of my pregnancy, or else I would get terrible terrilble caffine headachs. I drink a lot more now that I am not prego. But my son is happy and the best behaved baby ever i think. well prolly not, but hes good.hehe. Just dont over do it. Cut back if you can though. And on the shorten cervix that might be something you should ask the doctor about, cuz I have no clue.

  • The effects of MSG are not fully understood. True it is in many foods and that in moderation it is okay. But how do you know if you are taking in safe amounts of MSG and other chemicals if you dont know how much is in each item you eat and what the safe level is?

Also, i'd like to say i'm not a "green freak". i gave my son a hotdog the other night for dinner. However, i do think it is important to be aware.
