Regarding Washing Your Car..

Is it bad to wash your car when it's cold out? Like does it do anything to your paint after time or hurt anything?

  • No it is not bad. It is a pain to hand wash in the cold--but it is worth it--besides, it is not good for the paint to let it stay dirty. Even those who play in the mud wash their vehicles

  • It is a good idea to wash the car even though it is cold. When it has snowed and the salt trucks are out, the car should be washed to get the salt off.

  • just be careful if its too cold your doors can freeze shut.
    and the power doors/windows dont work right.

  • Hubby says it doesn't harm the vehicle unless it is cold enough to freeze the water and then if you have to chip at the ice (around a keyhole or door handle, for example) then you could chip the paint.
    Also, if you do it by hand you will be very miserable. Up in Maine we went through the automated car washes every 1 to 2 weeks to wash the road salt off our cars, which does more harm to the vehicles than ice does.
