for those with parakeets-

I have 2 females and a male and one of the females is building a nest- does that mean that its about to lay an egg or is it just something they do? ive had these birds for a year and a half and they have never done anything like this before- so i dont know wut it means- wut do u think?

  • Keets come to sexual maturity at about a year they MAY be getting ready to lay. It is that time of year! Spring is usually when they will lay the first time in a year. Make sure the mother gets egg products as it is very healthy for her and the hatchlings.

  • Sounds like it! A female will sometimes lay an egg even without a male partner. I had a parakeet who did that.
