Paying a realtor?

When you are buying a house, do you pay the realtor on top of the purchase price, or is it included?

  • ...and you don't pay them from your pocket...it comes from your loan I believe.

  • It is included in the purchase price. I think the standard rate is 6% of purchase price...3% for seller's Realtor and 3% for buyers realtor. If someone sells their house "For Sale By Owner" then they are saving the 3% that would have gone towards the seller's Realtor.
