Where does your family get health insurance if your employer doesn't offer it or you are self employed?

  • I self pay when I get sick enough to where I feel like I'm dying. My son is on Kaiser Kids and I only pay $9 a month and whatever co-pay for specific services. Emergency $15 dollars, every visit $5 and prescriptions $5. I feel so blessed to have gotten this insurance.

I ended up with a Kaiser plan that costs $250 a month with very good coverage. ... However, our children are grown, so I don't know how costly it would be to put dependents onto a health insurance plan ...

  • my DH gets it from his work. my DD and i get it from blue cross blue shield. its fairly cheap compared to getting it from my DH's a $300 difference.

  • Ours just started today, hubby is self employed, we have it thru United Healthcare, Golden Rule.
    We are a family of 5, non smokers, and its 475.00/month with a 2500.00 ded, 35.00 copay for Dr visits and we can choose our own Dr's. Thats with Gap ins included, to cover the deductable if we are hospitalized or have a major surgery.
