  • Hey I found this. Your reproductive system is undergoing dramatic changes as the weeks pass. By the 7th week, the operculum, or mucus plug develops at the opening of the cervical canal and seals off the uterus for protection. http://www.allaboutmoms.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&catid=27:baby-to-bee&id=485:prenatal-week7&Itemid=67

  • You must have been mistaken by what your dr. said. Your Mucus plug is there to protect against infection/etc. so it is pretty much developed really early in your Pregnancy. You can also lose part of it and "re-grow" it.

  • You LOSE the mucous plug later in pregnancy. Maybe there was some mis-communication?

When you do lose it, it does NOT regrow.
