Bailout money for Car Industry...What about for Hospitals?

Renaissance Hospital's in Grove, Houston and Dallas possibly closing. They had to file bankruptcy. Some employees we know of were ask to leave Friday. (http://www.kbmt12.com/news/local/40437292.html) If the Major Car Industry can get help why not the hosptials that service people's immediate needs? I have a personal friend that her daughter was scheduled for surgery and will now have to be told where she can go... Just wonder what your thoughts are on this...

  • The car industry should never have been bailed out because now everyone is expecting a hand out to bail their businesses out. They should have been allowed to fail. Im sorry about your friend but businesses close all the time and they dont get bailed out. That allows smaller businesses to rise up and offer services. Thats how its always works and no one should have been bailed out this time.

  • I think that it is crazy to be giving the car industry money for making pieces of shit that fall apart.

And our hospitals are no longer hiring, the staff will be overworked, errors are going to happen, and people aren't going to be getting the services that they need when they need it. It is rediculous.

  • I think that people are blind to what is going on in the healthcare industry right now. It will get worse.

  • i agree... but i am torn...while our hospitals are wayyyy more important and should be saved first, the car industry is important as far as economy... if they shut down car places it has such a huge recoil... sooo many people lose jobs...the ones that make the cars, the parts, the ones who sell them, as well as all the products...

it is kinds crazy when you look at like this...hospitals should be #1 on the list.... I know in CA they are having problems because of all the illegals they "have" to treat and then don't get paid...
if all hospitals get in a rut, i am worryed for the type of care people will get due to lack of money and supplies...

people should bring something like this up to their "wonderful" Mr. O

  • The bailouts for the auto industry should never have happened. I agree that our hospitals and clinics need to be brought to the forefront for help. The sad thing that will happen here, is that the government will use these closings as a reason why we need universal healthcare. Which I do not think we need. I think the american people should feel like they have been robbed from the bailouts of the banks and the auto industry.

  • If we got rid of the illegals we wouldn't have a problem with Hospitals. So kill 2 birds with one stone.

  • Banks were bailout. Car makers were not. Carmakers were given loans with definite pay back days and deadlines. Yes they could file bankruptcy but the first thing your bk lawyer will tell you is you can't default on the government. The government already told the banks they are behind them and to not dare complain because they bailed them out and own them (it was said differently but basically the point).

There are people watching every dollar GM & Chrysler spend (poor Ford is being sucked into it and they don't need money) but the banks REFUSE to answer where their bailout money went to.

Automotive whether anyone agrees is a big driving force of the economy and many of the millions workers that drive the economy have stop spending and it does effect your job as the trickle down effect continues.

  • Also if GM or Chysler fail your car repairs will SKYROCKET and all warranties are void. Right now the factory makes parts but if they shut down and no one steps up junkyards and current suppliers can charge the same as they do for those fixing up old cars (I mean 1950 and older).
