Roughly how much should my 8 month-old be eating?

Upon waking (7:30-8am) she has 2 1/2 tbs. oatmeal mixed w/ juice then 6oz. formula. Then around 11:30-12pm she eats a stage 2 fruit then 60z formula. Around 3pm she has a 6 oz. bottle. Then 5-5:30 she has 2 1/2 tbs. rice cereal and a stage 2 veggie w/ her sippy cup. And finally she has an 8oz. bottle before bed around 7-7:30pm. I feel like I am just making it all up as I go, but she would just keep eating if I let her!! Is this enough or too little?

  • I do not really measure the table spoons of rice cereal I feed my boys. But I nurse first thing in the AM about 8. Then I feed each a stage 2 fruits@10:30. I nurse before their nap @ 12:30p Depends how long they sleep I nurse again about 3 or 4p. I mix a stage two veggie with cereal I guess I make about 4 oz each baby about 5p. They nurse before I go to work at 7p. My husband gives them an 8 oz bottle each that usually lasts until 5am and he makes a 4 oz one until I can come home.

  • At that age, my son was nursing on demand, and eating a few spoonfuls of a puree every few days.

  • Its a rough schedule. I think it is accurate.. I stick with on demand but I can only nurse one at a time. One seems to more hungry than the other at any given time

  • My daughter is 8 months and she gets up around 6 and has an 8 oz bottle. She takes a nap at 9and when she wakes up i give her either 4 tbs of cereal with a half jar of fruits or veggies. Or a stage 3 jar of food. I make her a 6 oz bottle and she only drinks what she wants. She goes back down for a nap again at 2 until 4 then i give her the opposite of what was given for lunch. Then another bottle but only if she wants it. She always has a sippy of diluted juice when she eats. then she' s off to bed at 7. He last meal is usually between 5 and 6
