  • My daughter is 6 1/2 months and about to crawl. She gets on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth. Scoots backwards, just hasn't gone forward really yet. She'll pull on something like the blanket I lay her on to go forward. I think around 6 to 8 months is average time for a baby to crawl. But babies are different like you said. Some babies don't crawl and go straight to walking.

  • Half of all seven month olds are crawling, but like you said, some never crawl.

  • my oldest didn't crawl til 9 mos, walked at 10. my middle crawled at 7 mos and walked at 10. my yongest is 5.5 mos, started crawling at 4 mos 1 week on the army crawl going forward. Today he's up on all 4s crawling. I certainly hope he doesn't start walking faster than the other two :( It's hard enough keeping up with him before 6 mos!

  • He just crawled at 7 months and was trying to at 6 months. He's already pulling up on his own and standing too. But he has to be holding on to something to stand. He's getting there.

  • Average is 6-9 months, but like you said all babies are different. Pediatricians don't check specifically for crawling as a developmental milestone; rather, at the 9 month visit, they're looking for some kind of movement - be it crawling, scooting, army crawling, cruising, walking, etc. - that gets them from one place to another.

  • Some babies never crawl and go straight to walking..that is why it is not really a developmental milestone
