Ok, what's the difference?

During interviews today, Geithner was asked about new tax codes and intentions of the President and enforcement. One of his responses was this ( looking for current link)
"..so the average American can save for retirement like a typical American...."
Would you rather be the Average American or the Typical American?

  • Save for retirement? I thought the gov't was gonna take care of us with all the stuff they're handing out.

  • On average, I'd say that's a pretty typical response.

Can I be a common American instead?

  • Beats the hell outta me. I insist that I am by no means typical or average, my Daddy even said so = )

Sounds Reaganesque to me "What would this country be without this great land of ours". If you look in the dictionary under redundant, you will see it says redundant.

  • I dunno. I'm an uncommon, atypical American who is above average in intelligence.  I don't speak redundancy.

  • I tend to think of myself as a regular American.

  • It's all a moot point because there will be no one saving anything when all these ghost taxes go into effect.
Anyway, how does a typical American save for retirement. We have a 401k we contribute to that is shrinking as well as an inheritance which was taxed out the wazoo because it was my FIL retirement savings.
I thought that was pretty much how it was done.
I must be wrong because with Obama and his croonies coming out everyday speaking, the market is dropping like a rock.
He must have something else in mind.
