Should it be refridgerated?

I just made a cake, and I mixed the icing with cream cheese. I've never done that before, got the idea from someone at work. Anyways, can it sit out or does it need to be kept cool?

  • Refrigerate it. I bought a carrot cake at a dessert auction and totally forgot the icing was cream cheese based and got food poisioning.

  • I'd leave it in room temp before serving so the icing doesn't get rock hard and would refrigerate overnight if any leftovers.. then take it out 20-30 minutes before serving so icing can get soft again.

  • yea my mom makes a home made cream cheese frosting she has always put it in the fridge
