7 mo old has a cough... what can i use?

he has a little cough, it doesn't sound too deep or phlemy, he's had for about 10 days, but now i feel like its getting worse, is there anything i can use for it thats safe... until i can get him to see a doctor... we live out of town from his doctor, couple of hours away....

  • all i could say is maybe a steam bath?? there nothing that you can give him everything has to be perscribed by a doc untill there 1 i think but good luck mybe call his doc and ask if you can give him something over the counter till you can bring him in

  • Sometimes you can call the office and they will call something in for you to a drugstore close by. Are they running a temp? If not, just call and ask for a syrup or recs. If so, the child needs to be seen.

    They have changed the recs on OTC medicines and babies so IDK what to tell you.

  • Do you have a humidifier? That's all we were told we could use, that and the steam from a shower.

  • Current recommendations are that babies not be given anything over the counter.

    Steam and humidifiers help if there is congestion, the humidifier will help if it's a dry sounding cough, too.

    If he's been coughing for 10 days, I'd take him in for a sick visit.
