how do i get him to take a spoon?

7 mo. old and just not getting the whole food thing... i'm pretty much sticking to rice cereal too... how do i get him to take t he spoon??

  • Maybe just stick to finger foods or something like a mesh feeder...
    Let him play with his spoon so he gets used to it
    Sometime feeding with food on your finger gets them used to the idea

  • Just put it out there for him. Show him how you use it and in his
    time he will get it...that is what I did with my daughter.

  • Have you tried letting him self feed by giving him small bits of food that he can pick up himself?

    He might also just be uninterested in solid food. Some babies are not ready until 8 months.

  • Some babies refuse to be spoon fed and that is fine. Just put bite sized pieces on his tray and let him feed himself. If he does not pick up the food and eat it, it is probably a sign that he is not quiet ready yet. Some babies don't really take to solids until closer to a year.
    What to put on his tray? Small soft pieces of ripe banana, avocado, cooked sweet potato. Those are all more nutrient dense than rice cereal, and great "starter" foods.
