Obama nominates Craig Fugate as head of FEMA. Is THIS change you can believe in?

Obama nominated Craig Fugate, who has had 8 years EXECUTIVE emergency management experience as the Director of Florida's Division of Emergency Management. He has led Florida through every hurricane since 2001.
This is not even on the same playing field as Bush's last director - Michael Brown. (Who, if you recall, had previously been an Administrative Assistant)
So, is THIS change you can believe in?

  • Well, seeing as how Fugate has been inducted into the National Guard Hall of Fame, has been awarded Florida's Distinguished Service Medal, and has pulled Florida through over a dozen hurricanes (over Category 3) since being in office, I'm sure he's already proved he's worthy of the job.

  • I think he is proved he can do the job. He was put into Florida's division of emergency management by Jeb Bush (I believe) and then reappointed by Crist when he became governor. So far he has shown he can handle his role in Florida. Why not move him up to FEMA? He looks a lot better than "Brownie" did.

  • Nobody is bashing, what's the problem? I said that we would see come hurricane season. Running emergency management for a state is different than running it for the country. I hope he does a bang up job, but that's yet to be seen. Hopefully though, we won't have any major issues with storms this season. Makes me wonder how he would have handled the ice storms.

  • Sounds like a better pick than a fired horseshow atty who was college roomies with one of your cronies. Def better qualifications.

Funny how the Reps get pissy when Obama supporters say we will wait and see how it works out but it's ok for them to say it.

  • Friday, considering we have to wait for an emergency for him to put his skills to work, there is no other way than to "wait and see." He sounds qualified and experienced. Two things I love to see in any position.

  • Pending any "controversial" issues that may come about~This perhaps the ONLY decision Obama has made based on Experience. So Obama is 1 for 10 or 12??
