Do you think this is a good idea?

In a nutshell Rohm Emanuels brother is helping Obama decide on a health bill. What he says is everyone should get a vooucher for th esame amount. This way eventually they would not need to have medicare or disability because everyone has the same amount of healthcare.
What happens if someone gets sick . Are we going to have a health cap and trade where if you don't use all your coverage amount you can sell it to the highest bidder? UGGHHH

  • Sounds wonderful for us healthy folks. What about those that are disabled or born with congenital problems. Do we have rollover healthcare credits from year to year?
Obama wanted everyone to be equal, but people are not equal, some Americans need alot of regular healthcare visits and alot more prescription medications just to survive. People with MS, or CP, MR or mental disorders. It could not possibly work, but seems to go inline with Daschle's program of letting old people " just have their age related diseases".
How many preemie's would use up their vouchers in 2 months time? Then what? Death, because your voucher ran out?

  • "White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel once described his brother Zeke’s plan for health-care overhaul in a single word: “wacko.” "

    That about covers it.
I want to know how much these "vouchers" are going to cost us. Whether he adds a VAT (STUPID STUPID STUPID IDEA) or pulls money from somewhere else, we are the ones who are going to pay for it. That's why we dropped our insurance and went without a few years ago - we had mandatory revocation of our insurance and given two choices - sign up for the company run HSA or go without. The HSA came with a several hundred $/month premium and mandatory deductibles. Essentially, we would be forced to pay $10,000/year, $3500 of that deducted directly from our checks just for the privilege of participating, before this insurance would actually cover anything, aside from the $300 the company would contribute to the HSA. Spend $10k to get $300 back. Brilliant.

I wonder, just how happy some of these people would be, carrying their voucher to the health department for $3500 worth of care for the year. By March, they'd be fending for themselves and the voucher would be expired. Free stuff always sounds great until you have to actually pay for it with someone's actual dollars or with your own health, with no coverage 3/4 of the year.
