Guinea-Bissau Collapse- Why isn't this being covered by the media?

Why hasn't this situation/murder been publicized more in the media?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BISSAU, Guinea-Bissau (AP) — 3/5/2009 - The blood-soaked dining room where Guinea-Bissau's president was brutally murdered three days ago is littered with broken glass, bullet casings and a rusted machete.

No crime scene tape cordons off the area, no police stand guard outside. No one has been arrested, and hardly anyone in this sleepy tropical capital seems to care.

The apathy surrounding the slaying of President Joao Bernardo "Nino" Vieira in his own home — as well as the bombing attack that killed his main rival hours earlier — symbolizes just how far this drug-wracked state has fallen.

  • It's not as important than bashing Obama or putting my 2 cents into the Chris Brown Rhianna drama

  • Why hasn't this situation/murder been publicized more in the media?

Because the average reporter can't find it on a map?

  • Unless this slain president or his country contribute to our GDP or is an ally of ours or we are providing aid for, it doesn't really mean much--it's just another unsolved crime.

  • Since 1975, the U.S. has provided more than $65 million in grant aid and other assistance to Guinea-Bissau. Now do you care? http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/5454.htm
