How can I tell if this is a modeling scam or not?

I used to "model" when I was about 16, mainly doing just TFP(time for print). After taking a few years off I now decided to get back into it. I submitted a profile on Model Mayhem and I have gotten a few e-mails wanting to hire me for a paid shoot. How do I distinguish between a legitimate deal and a scam? Also, how do I find a manager or hire one or w/e, however that works.

  • I'm guessing its a scam, I would think you'd need to go through a reputable modeling agency or its BS.

  • ...I just don't think anyone would hire a model just by an email profile.

  • contact their references, only shoot with an escort to be with you for saefety, and only shoot in public places like parks. Have a written aggreement for your sake, and read his very carefully.I personally do not sign model releases, because ive met a lot of backstabbing photographers...also shoot in public
