  • We live within a mile of Costco and got a membership as soon as we moved here. We used it about 4 times out of the whole year because there wasn't that much of a selection or the type of merchandise we were looking for.
We got a membership to Sam's Club about 40 minutes north and have been going once a month at least - they are awesome! We don't drive up there from the house - hubby works 60 minutes north so he stops in on his way home from work on paydays. Very convenient. They have all the merchandise we want and a great variety.
I guess it all depends on your particular styles and tastes really. What is good for us is not necessarily good for everyone else. Perhaps the Costco near you will allow you a trial period?
    All the best!

  • We use BJ's and we love it. Buying bulk is cheaper and we won't have to go out shopping as much.

  • We have Costco's and I love it. We buy in bulk less than once a month and we are only a family of 2 adults and 1 baby. I buy cereal, paper goods, diapers/wipes, oatmeal, soaps/cleaners, meat, snacks, juice..to name a few and we save lots. The main reason I think we save is because I'm not going to the store as much so I can't just get those "extra" items that were never on my shopping list to begin with. But also the price is better per ounce. I suggest comparing your current grocery bills for 1 month and then go to Costco and get a guest pass and see if you would have saved.

  • My and my husband had this exact same delema... so we took a walk through of costco and priced items we usually buy, (because its free to visit and do a walk through)... and then we priced them agian at the store we shop at. We found that some things we buy are so much cheaper at costco, and others wernt so much. So then we added in the price of the membership.. and were saving about 350 a month from buying only the things we found cheaper at costco...
That would be my advice, because for every family its different.
    :D
    Good luck!!

P.S. they have amazing samples!! :D

  • lol in Canada you can only pick from Costco, Super Store and Wal-Mart, but Costco is nicer because it's the only place to buy bulk.
I get my diapers, wipes, laundry soap, dishwasher soap, toilet paper.. blah blah blah
the stuff that gets used quite often.. I get it at Costco because yes, it's costs a butt load when you get to the till, but in the end I'm saving money because I don't have to go every 2 weeks to buy things.. it will last a month and a half for us.. So I prefer Costco, just because it's the only option I have haha

  • I LOVE COSTCO!! It is one of my favorite places to shop! We buy paper goods, Kirkland Brand Formula (way better than Similac and Enfamil....mixes better, baby likes it better and it is super comparable to name brands), diapers, wipes, coffee, cheese, fruits and veggies (I make my own baby food and freeze it and it is so much cheaper than buying at the grocery store). Their seasonal stuff can't be beat...such great prices for such great quality. I got an unbelievable wreath there a couple years ago for $25.00. We get furniture there...I have a huge cubby hole shelving unit where I put pretty boxes to store all my kid's toys, diapers, wipes in....such an easy clean up. It is sooo worth it. (If you have a deep freeze...it is even more worth it. We buy bulk meat and freeze it).
