Once the blooms on an orchid die off, how long until new buds appear?

I have had several different orchids. And they don't die, but they have never bloomed again once the blooms died. I have a new one, and the blooms are just about gone. I don't see any new growth that would be new buds. Any tips or hints? I do have the food for them, I'll do that. But is there anything else I should know?

  • I have orchids, too. The flowers have been gorgeous for at least two months now on the plant. I'm no expert, but are these annuals of some sort? Like they bloom once a year?

  • Orchids are very finicky. You have to have the right tempature and humidity to get them to rebloom the next year. You almost need a greenhouse.
