When did your first born walk? What were some simple things you did to practice him?

I have heard that few babies walk just before they reach their 12th month. When did your first born walk? Did you do some things to practice him as in a regular basis?

  • My oldest starting walking about a week after his first bday. I would just help him walk holding his hands up to that point. My youngest also started walking a couple of weeks after his first bday.

  • He walked at 10 mths.

I would just take his hands(or DH would) and we'd walk slowly with him around the room for however long he wanted to.

Thats really the only thing we did to help him along.

  • She started walking between 9 &10 months. She would stand up at the couch/coffee table and walk around like that... we also would take her hands & help her. also getting one of those walker things that they can stand behind may help them.

  • DD was 14 1/2 months. I practiced walking with her, or standing a few feet away with a toy encouraging her. Those first steps are so exciting :~)

  • my daughter was 8 months when she started walking along the furniture.. but at 9 months she was walking completely on her own. me and my husband would hold her hands and walk with her a little bit each day till she got the hang of it. and also the things they can push help SO much with learning to walk.

  • He was walking full blast right at 10 months. He started standing and cruising at 7 though. I moved the end tables a couple of feet over (or whatever he was cruising on) so that he had to take a few steps on his own to get to it. It worked well!

  • My daughter just started to take her first unassisted steps and she is 10 months. My friends daughter just started walking confidently at 11 months. It really depends on the child.
