my toddler wakes up @ night screaming. happens every night...

My 20 month goes to bed a little late, 9pm. but this is because of the fact that every night she wakes up between 3-5 & screams to the top of her lungs. Ive tried letting her cry it out, Ive tried re-tucking her into bed, & shushing her while i rock her to sleep. It works for about 15-20 mins then back to screaming for about an other 30 mins- hour. no matter how many times i go in & try to reassure her everything is ok. any one else deal w/ this? the doc didnt seem to really worry about it. But im going Effin crazy.

  • Mine wakes up at midnight. If she yells for longer than two minutes I pick her up and lay down with her. She falls asleep like this within a minute or two, I get a good snuggle and put her back down. Don't know how scientific this is, but it works for me.

  • Does she actually wake up or is she doing this in her sleep? My son has night terrors, he will scream in his sleep but not wake up. Dr said not to bother him, don't pick him up, talk to him etc...
He's 5 now and it's gotten much better... Not sure if that helps,GL

  • I'd say night terrors. My son does it . He wakes up screaming and I am always worried soemthing is wrong, but eventually he stops crying and goes back to sleep. I cant stand it. Its like I wish I could make it stop. But I read that if it was night terrors that they dont remember anything that goes on. The things our children go through : (
