Why did God decide then was a good time to reveal himself to us?

Why was it 2000 years ago that Jesus was sent to us to tell us about God? Why not sooner? and what happened to those souls who were before Jesus?

  • Things in the bible need to fulfilled at a place and time,GOD has a schedule and things are done according to it.Prophecies wouldn't be accurate if things didn't happen.

  • IMO because Jesus was just a man and not actually incarnate of God.

  • IMO First I would have to say because Christianity (or Judaism as it was known then) wasn't that old of a religion.. so to the followers it wasn't that long of a time.. to them it was almost in the beginning. As to why not later... well if there is someone born today, that claims to be the son the God.. in all likely hood they are locked up in a mental hospital.

  • Because people were more primative and gullible back then. It's the only reason I can think of that the rosebush in my front yard hasn't burst into flame and started talking to me. There is no actual proof that the Jesus of the bible even existed. Certainly, there's no proof that he exists today either.

  • But many people DID know about Jesus and what his purpose would be (dying on the cross for us) even before he came to Earth. People worshipped God before Jesus came too. People had been worshipping God and waiting for Jesus to come since the beginning of time. The first poster referred you to LDS.org. You can go there, but if you go to www.mormon.org you can actually chat in real time with people who might be able to explain this bettter.

  • "People had been worshipping God and waiting for Jesus to come since the beginning of time. "

The idea of one God is still a newer concept compared to other religions, which have been around "since the beginning of time" that worship many Gods/esses.
