How long should they sleep?

At the age of six months, how much should my baby be sleeping if he is sleeping anywhere from 7-11 at night and he always wakes up at 6am?

  • it depends on the age of the child...4-6 months baby may sleep for 16 hrs total...6-8 months baby sleep for 14 hrs...if the baby is in playfull mind he may not set his mind to sleep...dont force the baby to sleep..he has to sleep by his own...

  • I think it depends on your kid. My 4 month old sleeps 10-12 hrs. straight w/out waking to eat. He goes to bed every night between 9 and 10. So it just depends.

  • ok kaytlnsmommy....don't rub it in!!! lol it's not really typical for 4 months old to sleep that long without waking themselves up to eat. Usually they wake up every 2-4 hours to munch a bit...congrats on having it easy!!!!!!

  • 15 hours total... our son when he was 6 months slept from 7pm-6am and then 2 two hour naps.. he's 8 months and still has that routine, and I think he will be there for a while...

  • It seems to me that 15 hours is the benchmark (total). However, every kid is different. If they seem cranky all the time, then they aren't getting enough sleep. If they seem happy with the sleep they're getting, then they're fine.
