  • Nope, not if she's growing healthy and strong. Some children need naps, some don't. Some stop napping as early as 2. Some adults still need to nap (not that we can!). Just make sure she gets enough sleep for what she needs at night time.

  • No, not unless she is going to bed late, she really needs to be getting atleast 12 hours asleep, check with her pediatrician, mine said for my 3 year old he needed 14 hours and my 4 year old 12 hours.

  • My DD still does sometimes. It's not an issue I push, they just need to be in their rooms for an hour or two to "rest'. So mom doesn't go nuts!

  • I JUST went through this with my 4YO. For the last 4 months or so nap time has been a total battle, it would take me over an hour to get her down, and then she'd sleep too long and stay up past 10pm and bedtime was a total battle. So, I decided to stop the naps and get her in bed earlier. Now she's in bed by 8:30 and we haven't had any issues. Once in a while if we are out and about late in the day she may nod off in the car, but wakes as soon as we arrive somewhere and in a great mood. Seems the lack of nap has not affected her negatively at all.

  • as long as they are sleeping 12+ hours a night it's fine. my 4 year old quit napping at 16 months, she has slept 13-ish hours a night ever since.

  • my preschoolersdo not allways sleep during nap time and they funtion just fine without it.... but I required quiet time. They go down at one, They may look at a book and listen to a cd. if after an hour they are still awake, i excuse them from their beds and allow them to play quietly in their play room while the babies finish up their naps. They do fine without naps. but are usually more agressive and emotional if they do not get their quiet time.
