how to relieve constipation in newborns

I just recently took my month and a half year old on a drive back from Colorado back to California.He's used to having breastmilk and we gave him formula for convience and he got constipated.Any tips on how to relieve him?

  • Are you back to breastfeeding? The best thing to do is to try to get back to exclusive breastfeeding.

  • First things first... what are the symptoms of constipation? If he's not having dry, hard, pellet like stools, then he's not constipated. If he's back on the boob, his poops should go back to what you are used to seeing. If he's staying on formula, they might stay the same.

  • I'm breastfeeding again now.Do you think it'll take long for him to poop again?

  • He's not going at all? EBF babies past like, 6 weeks of age, can go up to 10 days between poops, as long as they are not dry, hard, or pellet like.
