Cat won't stop scratching our walls.

We rent. This is the second place she has done this. She will not scratch on anything else. I refuse to get her declawed in case we have to get rid of her. (The next owner might want an indoor outdoor cat.). Do I just deal with it? GRRR!

  • Go to PetSmart or a pet store, They have these plastic nail covers for cats IDK exactly what theyre called. They cost about $20. The cat will chew them off @ first so youll have to reapply them. Eventually he'll leave em alone. No declawing needed.

  • Get the cat a scratching post. Walmart has them, your cat is just trying to strengthen his/her muscles. At least the cat isn't doing it to the furniture.

  • Get a scratching post that is up and down, not one that lays on the floor. Sounds like your kitty likes to stretch and scratch. If she does it in a few select spots they also make this wide 2 sided take that you can put on the area where she scratches. They won't like the sticky and stay away from it. That would be good to use to train her to use the scratching post.

Anytime I caught the cat scratching what he wasn't supposed to, I took him to that scratching thing, grasped his paw so that his claws would come out and "forced" him to scratch on what he was allowed to scratch. He got the hint. Good luck.
