How do OBs check for Strep B?

is it painful exam?

  • They just swab the inside of the birth canal.:) Not painful at all. Very quick and easy!

  • it's just a swab, but it's relatively useless lol. I mean: strep B test is only good for 5 weeks because strep b can come and go anytime during the pregnancy. you could have it at birth and never know.

  • if you test positive for itthen they make sure you get eh antibotics for it so the baby doesnt get sick that is the point of the test because every women has it it is just bacteria that can cause infection but it "lives on" every woman

  • They swab your perineum, from vagina to anus. It's not painful at all.

  • not painful. i didn;t even know she had done the test until it was over. just a very quick swab. but its good to know before u go in what it intails. not a big deal. so glad i had mine done. i tested postive and i know i have to have antibiotics. good luck
