Another Cloth Diaper Question

I'm thinking of switching to cloth diapers from disposable. I'm tired of throwing away $20 a week on diapers. I go online to search for suggestions and they have all sorts of diapers. all in ones, diaper covers, soakers. . . I'm confused. Can anyone suggest a type of diaper? Do you have a location (store or website) that you think is best? HELP!!??

Oh, by the way. . . my son is 17 months and we are considering having another child soon. . .

Thanks, Allison

  • I agree with the above poster. :) I'm in the Cuties With Cloth Booties group and I love it. :)

We use 2 different types of diapers. Pocket diapers (we like the Fuzzi Bunz brand: http://www.fuzzibunz.com/ ) and fitted diapers ( we use Goodmamas and have just gotten a Piddle Poddles) The pocket diapers are my favorite for overnight and going out because you don't need a cover (there is a built in waterproof layer.) We use the fitteds at home. They are more bulky and need a cover, but are really breathable.

Check out this link. It is a cloth diaper term glossary and explains what everything means.

I recently joined this group here on CafeMom. They are really friendly and you can do some post searches or ask questions. They don't mind newbie questions at all.

It took me about a week of reading online to get the hang of all the different types too LOL

I have yet to have this new baby so we have not switched yet. The best advice I heard so far was to try a few types.

Oh and one more thing google in your area for any baby stores that sale cloth diapers. I have a few places near me and some have meetups and classes etc.

  • I believe that pre-folds and covers are the easiest. I ues the indian style prefolds off of www.cottonebabies.com. They used to have a great starter package where you get two bummis covers with 6 prefolds. Great deal. Imo The bummis covers are the best.

I also have a fuzzy bunz all in one dipe. It is really hard to keep clean. Although, to me it looks like it is more comforable. Not so bulky. Good luck! I am happy to see so many moms making the change. Its a win win for the child and the planet! :)
