  • Babies are not supposed to be able to hold their own bottles, and the bottle should not be propped, the mom is supposed to hold the baby and the bottle.

Baby is designed to be breastfed and held, skin to skin against the mother whenever baby feeds and/or needs comfort. This is what is normal for humans and human development. If you are bottle feeding the baby still needs this physical contact as much as they need to milk.

It sounds like a smart baby! Hold her, and her bottle!

*sounds to me like she at least holds her baby when it can't hold something for itself. She's the one with issues? *rolls eyes.

  • Feeding time is a time to held and nurtured. Why do you want your baby to fend for herself? It really makes me feel sad to see babies who are forced to hold their own bottles or worse yet, have it propped, that can cause choking. Feeding your children is one of greatest of all the times we as moms will ever share with our babies and it ends quicker than you know. Just take the time out of your busy schedule, stop what you're doing and focus on this special time with your baby. One day you're gonna long for these days and they'll be gone forever. Believe me, I know.

  • One question: Why did you have a child?

  • Babies aren't supposed to hold their own bottles! And you definitely aren't supposed to prop them... don't you know that can very easily lead to choking and suffocating? Hold your baby!

  • There is no excuse of "not knowing" when what she is doing is a choking hazard to her baby. It'd be like her giving a baby honey or something else that could kill it. Its called common sense and educating oneself. She obviously has the internet and is also on a mothering board so how is it she didn't know what she is doing could choke her baby?

You're right though. Being a mom isn't at all easy. Maybe they should have thought about that before they willingly decided to bring a child into the world if they were not up to the challenge.
