When Kyle was born they ran standard newborn blood work. Well his thyroid level was abnormal. At 5wks we repeated the test but they were unable to get enough blood. So only 1 of 3 test were ran. It came back abnormal. So yeaterday he went for more blood work, thank god they found a vein and got the blood they needed. We will have the results in about a wk. Has anyone else had this with there baby?

  • I know others who have babies with hypo or hyperthyroidism. My daughter has hypothyroidism, but she was 10 years old when it was caught. It's treated with a simple medication that is a synthetic of the hormone the thyroid naturally produces. The levels will be monitored and medication adjusted according to the results of the blood tests. There is a group for moms with children with thyroid issues.
