Leaking from one side and not the other???

Hey I am almost 32 weeks and just started leaking colostrum from my right side but not the other? Happened to anyone else? Should I be worried about not being able to breastfeed from the other side?

  • No you will be fine. Believe it or not your production is separate from the other. So some days you may have more in one over the other anyway. Besides, alot of women don't even have colostrum until they give birth. Happy future breastfeeding!

  • What happens during pregnancy with colostum is NOT an indicator of future breastfeeding abilities. Some women never leak even once during pregnancy but then go on to have more than enough milk from both breast.

Just remember that less than 1% of women in the world have true low milk supply and very very few women have only one fuctioning breast but the few that do still can produce plenty of milk from the other side. It's all supply and demand!

If your concerned about any breastfeeding issues contact a lactation consultant. BE DETERMINED!! and you WILL make it! Enjoy your future breastfeeding sessions with your baby!

  • It happens and is NOT a big deal. It doesn't mean anything at all for your nursing ability.
