Are all of your due date calculations based on the date of your last period, instead of actual date of conception?

This is confusing to me to say "5 weeks along" when I ovulated 2 1/2 weeks ago - should I assume everybody uses those terms...all the websites I've seen seem to

  • They did that with me as well and then moved the due date to 3 weeks later after the first ultrasound.

  • Yes. It's strange and I don't knkow why they do it because the first 2 weeks or so- you're not pregnant. But that's how they do it. I figure they like the even 40 weeks as opposed to 38 weeks. But what do I know!
