Cereal before bed or formula???

I have been giving my 6 month old cereal about an hour before bed for about 2 months. Just last week when I started him on solids did he sleep through the night. Should I still do the cereal at night? I would rather just do milk, but I am nervous that he will not be full enough to sleep through the night anymore. Is it a bad habit to have him eating cereal right before bed?

  • I give my 8 month old cereal with fruit 1 hour before bed, that way she still has room for a bottle ans she will sleep through the night. I usually give a smaller bottle though, like 4 or 5 oz.

  • i say formula so if they wont poop out cereal in their sleep and have to wait till you wake up to change them.

  • I would start working on the meal schedule you will want him to follow....three meals and when you want him to have snacks (which could be finger foods or just straight bottles)...whatever that may be.

  • I feed my 6 month old cereal and breast milk about 3 hours before bed and then breast milk right before bed. She usually doesn't have a bowel movement until morning. I don't think it's a bad habit. We all eat before bed, it's called dinner.
