Look carefully at all the different options. We chose to look for older spec needs. Foster care didn't work because of a social worker who had a bad attitude about Christians and home-schoolers. So we found our older spec needs son in China. He is perfect.
Things to consider--
age of child
race (be certain to consider the attitude of extended family members!)
acceptable defects (look at what your medical insurance will cover, too!)
your personalities and how you cope with stress
WHY you want to be a parent
your ability to look beyond your insecurities to what is best for a child in an open adoption (and be honest with yourself!!!)
Your attitude about birthmoms.
