Is Bernie Madoff The Biggest Criminal?

Yes what he did was terrible and he's being punished for it but the US Government confiscates money via taxes all the time and the sum total of money the US Government has "redistributed" is incomparable to that which Madoff stole. So wouldn't that make the government worse then Madoff in a sense?

  • Madoff admitted his guilt. Your current administration is blaming others.

  • Ok. Well how about I compare the wasteful spending in the Porkulous Bill to the uproar over the bonuses that the AIG employees are receiving which Chris Dodd specifically allowed in the Porkulous Bill and is now threatening to confiscate via taxes?

  • Also in a sense the government is worse then Madoff since the people who invested with him did so willingly even though they were duped. We are forced to pay into Social Security and all the other government programs which are bloated with bureaucracy, wasteful and utter failures.

  • the people that invested with him didn't know he was stealing their money therefore there didn't do it willingly because they did not agree to have their money stolen. he took away their ability to decide what to do with their money the minute he decided to steal from them. We are required to pay taxes that pay for services. so no government is not worst.

  • Madoff ranks right up there with Ken Lay, Jeff Skilling, and Andy Fastow.......the good old ENRON boys.

  • My point is just like the people who invested with Madoff had no say in how their money was being misused we have no say in how our tax money is being misused and wasted but the people who gave Madoff their money did so willingly whereas we have no choice whether we want to give the government our money or not. How much tax money gets spent on services rendered to the tax payer vs. how much gets spent on other things that don't benefit the tax payer who paid the taxes at all.
