Having a problem with my daughter using her potty chair...

My daughter will be 3 in May, the beginning of December she started using her potty chair. She used it almost everytime she went the last couple months, and she has only pooped in her pull up maybe 3 times since we started in December...until recently that is. The last 2 weeks she just quit using her potty chair and just started peeing in her pull up, and the last 3 days she has been pooping in her pull up, even after she is asked if she has to go. She just keeps telling us no. I don't know what to do about it. Please Help!!!

  • First, ditch the pull ups. She doesn't need them and they are giving her a comfort zone for not going.
Second, stop asking her if she has to go. And don't expect her to tell you either. She will delay telling you she has to go so she can keep playing. Same thing when you ask. She will stand there dancing from foot to foot, holding herself, and still tell you "NO" simply because she wants to keep playing and doesn't want to leave her toys. Do NOT ask. Do NOT expect her to tell you.

Third, put her on a schedule. Go back to taking her - "It's time to use the potty sweetie" - once an hour. After you know she's got the hang of it again, keep an eye on her. If she hasn't gone in a 2 hours or seems to be dancing, TELL her it's time to go. Keep doing that until she goes on her own, without telling you, and stays dry for several days. That may be years. "I forgot" accidents are common into grade school.
