cough medicine while bresastfeedin?? HELP

i'm a first time mom and have been breastfeedin for twom months..[yay ^_^]
but i have also been a little sick. i have this HORRIBLE cough and a little sore throat. im also "congested" [ dont really know exactly wat it means... but thats wat the doc said} so im wonderin wat kinds of medicine are safe to take?? im really lookin for help, i've tried antibiotics that the doc prescribed but they didnt work. and i dont want to go make another appointment because i wait sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long for them to see me and then they just say "im ok." it makes me sooo mad=[.. so please i need some personal experience and opinions. ..thank you!!

  • For a soar throat, you can gargle some warm salty water.
    Cough drops can ease the coughing a bit and relieve congestion.
    Try not to take medicine. My doctor told me the guidelines for breast feeding are the same as for pregnancy.

  • Previous poster is incorrect. Wave bye bye to the restrictions of pregnancy. VERY LITTLE is contraindicated while nursing.

    Doctors are notoriously bad sources of breastfeeding information.

  • Almost all over the counter stuff is fine to take while nursing.
    Cough medicine is totally fine.
