  • Yes. That's common.
How long before he takes off? There's no way to tell. Could be tomorrow. Could be a month.

BABY PROOF! Make sure there are no small things on the floor. Take a look for electrical cords he could tug on - and end up pulling something down on his head. Make sure cupboards are latched or don't contain anything dangerous or breakable. Put anything away that is breakable - like vases on tables. Remember, it's not just that something was broken, it's the sharp pieces he can get hurt on.

  • I think it really all depends on how much tummy time a child gets. If they get alot, they may start sooner than others.

  • My daughter is nearly 8 months old. She has just started rocking. She can barely stay on her knees. It won't be long. You don't have to go baby proofing crazy. Just watch your baby like a hawk. Never leave baby alone for a second if they are roaming around the floor

  • My son started rocking back and forth on his hands and knees @ 9 mths by 10 mths he had learned to just do ther army crawl by pulling with his arms then @ 11 mths he just got up and took off I think every baby is different, (monkey see monkey do) we were at his little friends B-day party and he seen the other kids crawling around, the very next day he was doing the same. Try getting down there and crawling too I did this aswell just a little encouragement. It will happen befor you know it and then you never sit again!!!!!!!!LOL

  • My daughter started crawing at 7 months and she did the rocking thing for about a week before she took off so it could be any day now. she is 3 days short of 10 months now and is almost walking so if you have a quick learner i would baby proof as much as i can just in case.

  • Our son rocked a little but instead of crawling he did what we called the "commando shuffle". That is he stayed on his tummy and pushed himself along with his feet. Some babys will go backwards before they go forward too
