How do you know that baby sites are really free? or a scam?

Like babiesrus.com huggies.com, pampers.com and parenting.com? How do you know it's not a scam to make u think u get free stuff but then they start to bill you? I am just wondering, I remember doing it a long time ago and I got formula, and so many coupons. And baby magazines, I never payed for them though?
