  • I would call your dr. They should have an on call doctor that will call you back. It's better to be safe.

  • Call doc now if:
Age < 12 weeks with fever > 100.4°F (38°C) rectally (Caution: do NOT give these babies any fever medicine before being seen)
Call doc in 24 hours if:
    Age 3-6 months with fever

If it was higher I'd call the doc now but you are still low-grade. How did you take the temp? Have you stripped your baby down to a onesie?

  • Call your doc on call or call the nurse consult line at the ER. I think that they will tell you what the above person said....strip down to a onesie and watch for it to go over 100

  • 99.8 under the arm?? You baby should be seen by the pediatrician.
If you happen to do a rectal them then the temp is normal.

  • 98-99.9 rectal is NORMAL
anything over 100.5 for a baby under 3 months is a fever

  • As AmiJanell said, that is normal for a rectal temp. Also, some babies run a little hotter than others. All three of mine had a normal temp of about 99, so I never did anything unless they got to 110.5 or highter.
