  • Toxoplasmosis is a very dangerous virus to get, and can be very dangerous to your baby.

The only way your kitty can get it is if they've eaten a contaminated animal, like a bird or squirrel. That being said, if your kitty is an indoor animal, there's a very slim chance that they're contaminated.

Either way, I'd wear gloves and be sure to wash wash wash after you change it, or if you can, have someone else scoop for you.

  • cats are the most common carriers and cause of toxoplasmosis . It has nothing to do with whether they eat birds and animals. It is just a disease that they carry around. The number one way to get it to change cat litter. It can make your unborn baby sick. it can cause enchepilitis, nurological problems, and some other problems too. You should never touch cat litter  if you can help it if you have to clean kittys box use gloves and wash your hands .

  • a simple blood test will determine if you are immune to it or show if you are a carrier for it.
Be on the safe side, and cover your mouth/nose and wash your hands very well.
My hubby was so concerned, that HE started to clean the litter box, and now 7years later... STILL DOES!! Yeah me!!
