When do you stop needing nursing pads while breastfeeding?

or will they always leak and I always need to stuff my bra like a lame thirteen year old wishing puberty hit me quicker?

  • Every woman is different. I still leak (nursing my 17 month old) but not as often or randomly as before. I stopped using nursing pads a while ago though. A little milk never killed anyone. Just stained a little. Lol.

  • I think it depends on you. I never needed them. I didn't leak at all, I'm not sure why.

  • i used pads for the first 2 months or so, that was the time when i leaked in between feeding-like if i heard a baby crying, thought about feeding or my baby was due and not yet asking to be fed. i still leak on the 'other' side, during feeding, (bub is 8 months) but i dont use breast pads, i just have a cloth nappy i use to soak up any spills- its great as a burp cloth too. if i dont have a cloth nappy handy, i can press on my 'other' boob to stop the flow.

  • Its weird, but I only need a breast pad for my left breast. My right one never leaks. I started only needing just 1 when my DD was 4 months old.

  • I have leaked maybe 20 times in the past 3 months ,and only once or twice since the first month. So I keep them around for when the baby sleeps a long time, but generally do not bother. This is similar to my first 2. If you have a regular schedule, you may be OK after 4-6 weeks but if anything upsets the schedule, the baby will probably nurse less and you will want a couple just in case.
