Gov. Palin's legal debts pile up in Alaska

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/politics/story/64545.html
Gov. Sarah Palin owes more than a half million dollars to an Anchorage law firm that has defended her against ethics complaints, and she may create a legal fund to pay the bill, she said Friday.

Legal bills have mounted fighting complaints that she called partisan, false and frivolous, starting with "the politically motivated Troopergate probe," Palin said in a written response to questions.

She said the legal bills all stem from her actions as governor.

"I must defend against these baseless ethics accusations out of my own pocket as the use of public monies to do so could itself violate state law," Palin wrote.

The debt, amassed since she was catapulted into the national spotlight during the presidential race, was revealed in her annual financial disclosure filed this week with the Alaska Public Offices Commission.

So should her ppl have to pay?

  • She can do whatever she wans in regards to her debt, but pay it one way or the other. If someone wants to donate they can. No problem here with that issue.

In all, Palin said, there have been 10 ethics complaints.

Out of the 10 complaints, Palin said six have been dismissed, one had "concluded," and three are pending. Andree McLeod, who has filed four ethics complaints against Palin and top aides, and made a number of public records requests

  • ONE person has filed FOUR of the complaints. This sounds like someone with a vendetta. What is she supposed to do go bankrupt trying to defend herself against the crazies. THEY file the lawsuits, all she has done is get defended. If you read the article she doesn't MAKE enough to afford to defend herself...so I guess the only people who should be able to run for office are the extremely wealthy so they can afford these lawsuits? The bottom line is if she wasn't gov she wouldn't have these lawsuits. People should get mad at Andree McLeod and the like!

  • Must be a slow day, so we bash on Palin for something to do, eh sweet-a-kins? We know you hate her, but I wonder what your underlying problem is? Are you jealous? What, you can't just forget about her and move on? Unless you live in Alaska, her actions, votes and lawsuits are not affecting your life in any way--providing you have one, which doesn't seem likely, given your constant harping on Palin.

Did you know that the person behind the complaints is republican? Palin's own party is failing the complaints.

Before calling people names do same research who Andree McLeod is.And no we don't need to be mad at people like A.McLeod. We need more people like her who are not afraid to get the truth out.

  • I don't need to look her up. GREAT that she is repub...good for her. Sarah pissed of quite a few in her own party. I notice none of you answered whether she should have to pay for all her defenses that she wouldn't be in the middle of if she wasn't gov. If ALL the gov and elected officials have to pay their own representation against these types of allegations only the very rich will be in office b/c they will be the only ones with the $$ to pay for these lawsuits.
