My 15 month old son has a cold since he needs fluids is it OK to give pedialyte instead of juice also are there any tips anyone could share on dealing with a toddler with a cold any help would be appreciated?

  • the best thing besides lots of juice is a cool mist humidifier! Pedialyte is for a sick tummy not a cold, give juice!!!

  • pedialyte is for loss of electrolites via vomiting, diarrhea, or excessive sweating (same as gatoraid). There's no need to give it unless you suspect dehydration. For a cold, I was told to stick with clear fluids. But watered down juice would be fine.

    I also agree with PP. humidifers work great.

  • same here, humidifer and clear fluids. juice should be once a day anyways ( as told by pediatrician). my 22 month old is just getting over a sinus infection so i know it can be rough.
