  • My vote is for Gibbs. He is easier to replace. I am sure Obama will try to get Ariana Huffington to fill the billet. (j/k~sorta)… According to Obama there is no one best to screw up even more of  fix our nation’s economy, besides Geithner. Heck they can’t even find people to fill the Treasury Cabinet. I just wish he(Geithner) would have read all the details of the bailout he was accredited to writing. Or does he run the treasury department like he manages his own taxes? Half arsed?

  • I was watching Meet the Press this morning, and there seemed to be a lot of support from both sides for Geithner. I don't think he's going anywhere. Also they were commenting on the number of good, qualified people who were turning down Treasury jobs. Everyone is saying thanks, but no thanks. I guess people don't want to do those thankless jobs, especially with the economy in the shitter.

  • As far as Gibbs goes, what is he doing but batting back the same attitude and tone that was thrown at him by Cheney (and the right wing opinion media). After all, he is the press secretary. If he just rolled over you guys would be saying he was gutless.

  • Gibbs~ I think He is gutless. Did you see how he handled the whole Geithner questioning? He stumbled, stuttered and told the press to go buy a paper and read it. ? wtf is that?? How is that confident articulation and representation of the Administration?

And Geithner is under scrutiny by the likes of Maxine Waters (D-CA),who has asked for him to answer more questioning and hinted around to possible resignation. Not too mention the tension this blame game has caused. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/politics/bulletin/bulletin_090320.htm

I agree with you there. From what I read and heard everyone in the house, senate, and whitehouse was aware of the bonuses, but they underestimated the backlash of the American people. From what I understand, it was reviewed and decided that contract negotiations necessary to eliminate the bonuses were too costly in time and money, and they decided to let it go in the interest of expediency because it was a very small percentage of the bailout. Then the public was horrified, and fingers are being pointed all over the place.

  • Agreed Stacymomof2. So, then you don't think Geithner and Dodd should be the fall guys? or Do you think Obama knew about it, lied and can't fire Geithner (or call for Dodd's resignation) without placing the blame on himself?  This is (imo) one of those moments where I think Obama is just another politician and isn't bringing about Change, Responsibility, or Transparency. That is what people voted for, right? But that is me, and I am proud member of my local tea party, and other PACs to show Washington we are TIRED of their BS. Both sides of the aisle, btw..
