Has anyone’s child been diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder?

If so what tests were done to diagnosis it and who gave the test. Also what things have you been able to do to help your child? Do you know of any good websites with information or resources?

  • My Oldest daughter was diagnosed with an APD, at seven which is considered to be a very early detection. I approached an audiologist for a standard hearing test and went from there.
There seems to be a number of very expensive treatments out in the market place for concerned parents.
The train of thought is to develop what is lacking whereas in real terms a child has already developed some strategy within themselves to compensate for this developmental short coming. In this particular case the mental capacity of the child is stressed or fatigued from over loading, imagine having to run all the sounds of the English language to fill in the gap of a conversation that was distorted. Think slot machine at a casino with the barrels rambling.
I am more than happy to share with you free ideas that may improve your child's situation
