Have you ever had a psychotic episode?

A family member of mine is going through a lot of stress..a break up, failing college, work..she was up for 4 days straight..and started making no sense at all when she talked. She knows that something isnt right and all of this is so over whelming for her. She is in the hospitals stress unit right now..today is the 3rd day with no major improvement. She's having a hard time putting things together. Have you ever seen anyone go through something like this? How long did it take for them to get back to normal? What did you find was the best thing to do to help?

  • yeah a few. it all started the same with sleep deprivation. but depends how old if early 20's possible, not just an episode but the onset of mental illness. the thing is, it will take time for her to be normal because they start you off on so many schioctic drugs that mess with your brain. that happened to my sister and it was like a month till she was somewhat normal then we weined her off the drugs and has been fine ever since, this was 15 yrs ago. it was a mix of partying, stress, a breakup and so on. but the meds they try to calm can sometimes have side effects that realy alter a personality
