How much do you spend on Groceries?

Do you go weekly, biweekly, monthly? How many are in your family?

  • I have 7 in my family and for the past 16 months I have spent between $175 and $250 each month on groceries. I do a major shopping trip maybe once every 4 to 6 weeks and then buy milk once a month (freeze it) and fresh veggies/fruits every 2 weeks.

  • For a family of three we spend around 100 bucks aweek. We can do it cheaper but we buy alot of fresh vege/fruit and organic. Once a month it more as we get non food items laundry soap, cat litter stuff like that........then its 200-250 for that week.

  • LOL I just posted under Grocery Shopping...Yesterday, i went grocery shopping and spent $207! The lady in front of me had a 4 bottles of good (Herbal Essence)shampoo, 4 of conditioner, cereal, cheese, milk, yogurt...not sure what else. But, after giving the cashier all these cut out coupons she had her total only came to $18! How the hell did she do that? I want to become a shopper like that to save some money on groceries. Got any tips for doing that?

We shop bi weekly and spend around $200. But, when we need something from the store like milk or bread, w spend an aditional $50-$75. So we spend over $600 on groceries, including diapers, papergoods, soap, etc...This is a family of five.

  • I try to budget for $400 a month for a family of four. I will go to the store sometimes twice a week and spend 30 to 40 each time. That 400 also has to include gas for the month. We usually go over our budget on the weekends but I'm trying to stick to the 400 mark.=)

  • I spend about $700 a month for a family of 5 and we shop every 2 weeks. The bulk of what I buy is fresh produce and organic stuff and finding coupons for those things is impossible. I hit sales for everything else and get name brand items for the same price or a price less than the generic.
