  • You don't have to they suggest you do because of links to problems

  • When you take a puff off a cigarette it decreases the amount of oxygen the baby gets. Smoking women do that numerous times a day. The decrease in oxygen alone can lead to a whole bunch of problems. Add that to the effects of the carcinogens and chemicals and you could easily kill the baby. Also it can lead to problems with how strongly the placenta attaches to the uterus, it can cause black "dead" spots on the placenta. When you smoke it increases your blood pressure which is a danger for pregnant women. Smoking raises the chances of developing Pre E which can kill a pregnant woman. Smoking can cause a woman to go into preterm labor. Smoking can increase the risk of a c-section and a c-section itself carries enormous risks. Studies show that babies born to smoking mothers are more likely to smoke as adults because they aquire a taste for it. That's just the tip of the iceberg really though.

  • for one you are depriving your child of oxygen everytime you take a hit on a cigarette. two, there are risks of premature birth, miscarriage, low birth weight, respiratory issues, developmental issues, etc.

  • You know being rude does not get the question answered. At least this mom to be is asking and is willing and is thinking about quitting.

  • Low birth weight, dead brain cells make your baby have brain damage, allergies, breathing problems, early labor that puts the baby at risk of dying at birth because of undeveloped lungs, learning problems with your child, displacea of the placenta which can lead to your death as well as the babies, toxemia, miscarriage, ear infections in your child, breastmilk not being good for your baby because of ciggarette poisoning, cancer, also there have been rumors that ADD, ADHD and other behavior problems could be from smoking while pregnant........ Is that enough or shall I continue?

Answer by coke2pep at 8:31 PM on Mar. 25, 2009

  • I know a lot of us are being rude, but it's kinda obvious smoking isn't good for anyone especially a human being that is inside your body forming organs.

I'm not saying to stop cause I stopped when I found out when I was pregnant, then started back, then stopped again.

But to even question why you should stop is idiotic.
