what gets toddlers in the mood to use a potty?

i have a 1 3/4 year old little girl and we are doing a bit of potty training. i want to know how to make this a fun exciting thing to do. she will tell me "poo-poo" or "pee-pee" after she does it. today she mentioned "poo-poo" and we rushed to the potty chair and she let a little out and said she was done. we got up and got a diaper on and when she got off the changing table, she filled the diaper, then telling me she had to go.

  • You should look into the 3-day potty training method. It worked for my daughter at 19 months. There's a woman with an e-book that is a waste of money, IMO, because there's plenty of information about it on the CM group "potty training moms." YOu should check it out. Not because it takes 3 days, because it didn't (for us). But it's a method that works really well if you give it a little time. It teaches them to go sit on the potty or ask to go when they need to go -- rather than you having them sit there at regular intervals hoping something comes out. It sounds like your daughter is recognizing the sensation of "needing to go" already, so she should do great!
